Le Corbier - in the middle of one of the largest ski areas in France!
The village Le Corbier (1,550 m) was shaped by the known architect Le Corbusier and is closely linked to alpine skiing due to its design. Situated directly next to the pistes, it offers you perfect access to one of the biggest ski regions in France, Les Sybelles, which offers 310 kilometres of piste. Especially families will find great conditions in Le Corbier which was awarded the rating "Famille Plus Montagne" in 2007. The resort presents itself as very child-friendly with a ski school for children, a ski area for children and extensive child care for every age group. Furthermore, you will find an optimal infrastructure for a comfortable ski holiday in Le Corbier: many restaurants and bars, a canopied shopping centre, a large indoor pool with an outdoor pool in the centre, a bowling alley, a cinema, as well as a nature ice skating rink.
Ski"Les Sybelles" (1,100 - 2,620 m) offers 310 versatile kilometres of piste as one of the biggest ski regions in France with mostly easy to medium levels of difficulty, as well as 71 lifts and altogether six interconnected ski areas. The regions at the bottom of l'Ouillon (2,431 m) that offer a great variety are called Le Corbier, Saint Sorlin d’Arves, St. Jean d’Arves, La Toussuire, Les Bottières and St. Colomban des Villards.
The massive area of pistes offers ideal conditions for beginners and families with children because the numerous blue pistes arrange for a diverse introduction into the skiing pleasures for the less practised. The mostly blue pistes of Le Corbier bottom out levelly so that beginners or children can reach the village without difficulty at any time. Experienced skiers will also enjoy the 200 km of red and just under 18 km of black pistes.
In addition to many family friendly ski runs, Les Sybelles also offers very good deep powder snow conditions, amongst others, at l'Ouillon, Bellard and Grand Truc. Those who like to let loose on the prepared pistes, will have fun on the black piste "Casse Pipe". Freestylers can run riot in the snow park, and night skiers will enjoy two floodlight pistes.
This winter season, the ski area has invested broadly into a new, red piste from the L'Ouillon (2,431 m) and two brand-new chair lifts. Both, the 4-person chair lift Ourson, as well as a the 6-person chair lift Voie Lactée, take off some of the load of the Sybelles-Express at the Pointe du Corbier. Further, the Crozat-Zone has been re-designed and the beginner area in Le Corbier has been fitted with new magic carpets.
Even though Le Corbier cannot be equalised with the ravingly successful important centres for alpine après ski, the village nevertheless offers, apart from the pistes, various stopover and recreational opportunities. In addition to the ski huts and restaurants in the ski area you will find a disco and a pub, as well as many cafés and restaurants in the village which are easily accessible all day long because Le Corbier is situated directly at the bottom of the pistes.
Those who would like to experience the region from a bird's eye view can book a paragliding flight on-site. But also less courageous travellers will find further recreational activities in Le Corbier - from an indoor pool to the galaxy spa with sauna and steam room to a snow tubing alley.
Le Corbier and the approximately four kilometres distant neighbouring village La Toussuire offers you a network of tracks of altogether 39 km. Both beginners and more experienced cross-country skiers will get their money's worth. Le Corbier possesses amongst others a 2 km long easy high altitude cross-country ski trail called "Le Clos". Both in Le Corbier and La Toussuire you will have the opportunity to take cross-country lessons.
