About Les Menuires - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Les Menuires - gateway to the 3 Vallées!
Les Menuires is located at an altitude of 1,850 m in the Belleville valley. The resort is characterised by chalets made of wood and natural stone, which makes its appearance romantic. Being very family friendly and with many offers available for children, the resort is labelled "Famille Plus". In comparison to the its neighbour resort Val Thorens, Les Menuires offers considerably cheaper prices, however still provides all the comfort and necessities for a successful holiday in the mountains: snowy pistes, diverse leisure time offers such as, e.g. large sports and spa centre on 4,500 m² terrain and an extensive gastronomy offer. All this is only waiting to be discovered!
SkiThe lift pass "Les Menuires/St. Martin" enables use of the 160 kilometres of piste and 34 lifts around Les Menuires and Saint Martin. The ski area is multifaceted and has variety for beginners as well as the advanced. There are some deep snow slopes waiting for their fans. The panoramic view is worth the visit, as the ski area comprises some peaks close to 3,000 m altitude, e.g. the Le Mont de la Chambre (2,850 m) or the Le Roc des 3 Marches (2,704 m).
Boarders will find first-class conditions in Les Menuires. Between the districts La Croisette and Les Bruyères there is a half-pipe, quarters and pyramids. A boardercross run is to be found at Le Becca. And the little ones will find ideal conditions to learn skiing in the children's clubs Piou Piou in La Croisette and Les Bruyères.
A few quite challenging runs can be found at the Point de la Masse (2,804 m) with e.g. the "Dame Blanche", but ski connoiseurs will also find enjoyment on the valley run to St. Martin. From now on, going down from the mountain station to the valley is possible for all abilities as the new blue piste "La Bouquetin" opens for the winter season 2015/2016.
For all those who can't part with their skis, twice a week there is night skiing on an illuminated piste (depends on time of season).
"Le Chalet" - not an original name, but a splendid restaurant with Savoyan specialities on the menu. The restaurant is also an après-ski bar, in which you can round off a fantastic day on the slopes. Around 35 restaurants and bars in Les Menuires invite you in to stop and stay. Overall, the offer of recreational activities off-piste is very large: from dog-sled rides to exciting heli-skiing and snowtubing, everything is possible here!
The spa and fitness offers are also worth a try. The sports and spa centre covers an area of 4,500 m² and has a large selection to choose from. It's your choice: be it swimming, sauna, water gymnastics, fitness, tennis, squash or volleyball.
Cross-country skiing in the 3 Vallées? No problem! The region has a total of 127.5 km of trails! 28 km are located in the Les Menuires area at a height of 1,850 – 3,200 m. Most of the runs have a medium degree of difficulty. The routes lead along the Belleville-Valley and provide a stunning view of the surrounding mountains. Courchevel offers 66 km of runs, which makes it the most interesting to cross-country skiing fans.
The longest run in Les Menuires is a real challenge, even for the skilled skier: The "Le Doron" is 21 km long and lies between 1,400 and 1,650 m in altitude. In the neighbouring resorts Méribel and Courchevel there are also very impressive high-altitude tracks to be found up to 2,300 m.
