About Praz Sur Arly - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Praz sur Arly – charming resort at the foot of Mont Blanc!
At the upper part of the river Arly, located in a wide valley, lies the cosy, little village Praz sur Arly, not so far from Megève and Chamonix. Mountain enthusiasts will love the view of the Mont Blanc, which can be enjoyed from here. Due to the very traditional character and many children's facilities, the resort is very popular with families. The quality seal "Famille Plus" confirms this. However, not only the little ones will feel at home here. Due to the connection to the neighbouring resorts Crest-Voland Cohennoz, Flumet, Notre Dame de Bellecombe and Les Saisies the ski are comprises a total of 185 km of pistes. Lots of diversity guaranteed!
SkiWith the lift pass "Espace Diamant" you have access to a total of 185 km of piste - and therefore 162 diverse piste. 82 lifts ensure that all corners of the ski area are easily reached.
Vast green pastures in summer turn into wonderful skiing areas in winter for both Nordic and Alpine skiing. 6 mountain peaks provide enough options for all levels of skiing, begin beginner or pro. Forest descents take you past old chalet buildings and offer an impressive view on the surrounding mountains and, of course, the fascinating Mont Blanc.
Children and beginners will likely prefer to keep to the foot of the ski area. A free magic carpet is available for children here, and there are some easy beginner slopes which help with getting started. Otherwise, the general rules applies: the higher the pistes are located, the more difficult they are.
For those, who don't want to spend (all) their time on the normal pistes, there are other exciting challenges to try: 5 boardercross runs, 5 slalom slopes and 3 snow parks. What more could you want?
After a good meal you can spend the evening in Praz sur Arly in one of the local bars or discos. If you are looking for a bit of diversity, a detour to Megève is recommendable, and it is only approx. 10 minutes away. Stylish bars and lounges provide classy evening entertainment.
The leisure time offer in Praz sur Arly is surely worth considering. The hot-air balloon rides are the resort's best-known attraction. Discover the mountain landscape from a completely different perspective - from up above! If you rather prefer to stay on hard ground, there are further activities. For instance a ride on the Yooner, which is a kind of monoski.
On a dog- or horse-drawn sleigh ride. During a snowshoe hike you have the perfect opportunity to explore the snowy landscape. Various round trails just above the resort are great, also for children, to try out these activities.
In Praz sur Arly there is only cross-country track available. However, it is approx. 10 km long and leads along even ground right up to Megève, and is also well suited for beginners.
One of the nearby resorts, Les Saisies - which also belongs to the Espace Diamant ski area - offers a larger selection of trails. Here you can find a track network covering 120 km. During the Olympic Games in 1992 in Albertville, this was the venue of the cross-country and biathlon competitions. Hence, you will find ideal conditions here. Further, the offer includes a biathlon stadium and a training field. The tracks in Les Saisies belong to the highest-located in the whole of Europe, by the way.
