About Val D Allos Pra Loup - presentation, information, photos and recommendations
Val d’Allos/Pra Loup – winter fun in the sun!
Val d’Allos 1800 – La Foux is located, as the name implies, at an altitude of 1,800 m in the Département Alpes de Haute Provence in south-eastern France. Situated in the heart of the national park Mercantour, Val d'Allos offers everything you need for a wonderful winter holiday in the snow. Due to its exquisite location on the southern hillside, the ski area "Espace Lumière" benefits from many hours of sun, which makes it even more attractive for visitors. The resorts are shaped by special wooden architecture and a small church, sky-scrapers or concrete apartment blocks will not be found here. Therefore the resort is highly suitable for families. This is also how Val d'Allos was accredited the "Famille Plus" award, which requires at least a family-friendly infrastructure, professional child-care facilities and an entertainment or activity programme for all ages.
SkiWith the lift pass "Espace Lumière" you will find a total of 230 km of piste available in Val d'Allos La Foux, Val d'Allos Les Seignus and in the interconnected ski area Pra-Loup. With 53 lifts, which take you up to an altitude of 2,500 m, the area is perfectly interconnected. The mainly easy to intermediate pistes offer lots of fun, especially for families. But also pros will have different opportunities to test their ability, e.g. on the black piste "Seolane" or the diverse boarder cross routes. The very brave can try out the snow park "South Park" with jumps and various obstacles and everything else a freestyler's heart desires. Should the snow conditions not be sufficient numerous snow canons are available to make sure there is enough snow.
Val d'Allos-de Seignus has its own little ski area with approx. 50 km of piste. With its mainly red and black pistes, it is best suited for experienced skiers.
At the Pra Loup tourist office, you have access to a free-of-charge Wi-Fi hotspot.
Val d'Allos has much to offer away from pistes which promises action and fun throughout the day. Those who like to remain sporty even after a day on the piste will surely find some fun things to do. How about a run on the snow scooter, ice skating or even ice climbing? The beautiful landscape can be explored whilst taking part in snowshoe hiking. If you are not sure if you can manage this on your own, you can join a guided tour locally. The cosy alternative is to walk along the winter hiking trails of the region.
The little ones can burn off energy on the outdoor playground or rent a game from the "games library". Further diverse activities are organised.
To end the day on a cosy note you can just enter the quaint local bars and restaurants. There you can enjoy the regional French specialities and good wine.
Val d'Allos 1400 offers a total of 18 km of trails. 4 km of these are especially suitable for beginners. The other 14 km are rather recommendable for experienced cross-country skiers as they tend to be quite a bit more challenging. The trails are wonderfully integrated into the surrounding landscape and take you along the river Verdon. But it is not only the surroundings, but also the sunny location which makes this area the perfect destination for cross-country fans.
The longest track is to be found in the neighbouring resort Pra-Loup. The easiest track is well-suited for beginners and with 4 km lenght offers lots of practise time. If you are interested in learning cross-country skiing, then this is the ideal place to do so.
