Valfréjus is located at an altitude of 1,550 m in the Savoyard Alps, near the Italian border. The friendly village, away from mass tourism, can easily be explored and has its own special charm. The centre is built like a horseshoe around the broad end of the valley descent, so that most of the sun terraces of cosy bars and cafés can easily be reached on skis. Apart from that, some restaurants are waiting to spoil you with French, Italian and local specialities. In the resort centre you'll find a multi-purpose sports field, which, depending on the season, is used for skating, hockey, football and basketball. A particularly fun activity for the whole family is the toboggan run, which you can use in the evenings by floodlight to ride about 2 km through the marvellous wooded surroundings. More excitement can be had paragliding!
SkiIn La Norma & Valfréjus, guests are provided with pure skiing pleasure: the ski areas tempts winter sports fans with their unbelievably gorgeous pistes and dreamy panoramic views in the middle of the Savoy Alps. Between 1,350 - 2,750 m altitude, skiers and snowboarders can use 23 lifts to help them enjoy the 135 km of piste.
The lift pass "ESKI-MO" grants you access to over 335 km of diverse pistes and 5 ski areas. You can therefore visit the La Norma ski area daily, as well as enjoy one day each in the Aussois, Val Cenis Vanoise, Bessans, and Bonneval sur Arc ski areas. In the ski areas, you will find mainly easy to medium slopes, however some black ones are also available. The ski areas can all be comfortably reached with the free ski bus.
Valfréjus is well-known in France as a paradise due to its numerous deep powder snow descents that are sure to excite skiers and snowboarders alike! In the boarder cross park tricks can be learned and improved. The beautiful forest descent through splendid natural scenery ends right in the middle of the town centre. Several snow-making devices assure an additional snow guarantee.
Orelle, just 18 km from Valfréjus, provides the perfect entrance to the ski area of Val Thorens, the highest resort in the Les 3 Vallées. This trip to the largest ski area in the world should not be missed! Those who have an ESKI-MO lift pass will also receive discounted day-passes for Val Thorens or the entire 3 Vallées in resort.
In the cosy resort of Valfréjus there various bars which offer extensive aprés ski possibilities. In the disco "K2 Club" for example, popular DJ's put on the hottest music every day.
For all those who rather like to end the day on a more cosy note, there are some restaurants with French and traditional cuisine on offer. The centre of Valfréjus has a quaint shopping passage and diverse leisure time and sports activities which will keep everyone entertained.
If you are looking to pass a day without skiing then you can choose between e.g. snow shoe hikes or ice skating. In the evening, you should certainly try out the 2-km toboggan run - by floodlight!
Valfréjus offers more for Alpine sports fans rather than for the Nordic discipline fans. Those who still want to take a ride on their cross-country skiers can visit the neighbouring resort Valmeinier (approx. 35 km). In the ski region Valmeinier - Valloire approx. 10 km of skating trails are waiting to be used by visitors free of charge. The level of difficulty is mostly intermediate, so that beginners as well as connoisseurs can feel good. Those who are just learning how to cross-country ski are also at the right place. Service stations are available if you need help with your equipment.
