Vannes (Breton: Gwened) is a town in the department of Morbihan in the region of Brittany in northwest France. The city was founded more than 2000 years.

Vannes Morbihan Gulf is located at the mouth of two rivers, and Vincin Marle. The city is at a distance of about 100 km north-west of Nantes, 450 km south-west of Paris.

Vannes name comes from Venice, a maritime Celtic people who lived in Armor (now Brittany) before the Roman invasion. Venice's fleet was defeated by Julius Caesar in 56 BC, the LOCMARIAQUER, as a consequence of Venice were all either slaughtered or sold as slaves.
